“The rain came down and down and down”

I know I have written a few things about the environment in Ireland and that I think Irish people are really messy when it comes to throwing garbage away. I think they might have a secret saying that goes something like this: “Dump it in the side of the road no one will care anyway”. However there is one thing that is bothering me like crazy and when I say crazy I mean BLOODY CRAZY! This is something that is environmentally right, but in my eyes it should be banned and I’m pretty sure that I am not the only one who have this problem. You see so many Irish people keep asking me how I am coping with the weather/rain (this is where I tell them that it rains in Denmark too). They ask me how I find Ireland and its wet muddy ground with its dripping clouds drip-drip-drip hanging over me almost like they were stalking me. I tell them that I’m fine with it and that I don’t mind the rain. I don’t at least not if it would just rain all day. You see the weather here has me confused. I wake up in the morning to sunshine and birds singing loudly almost fooling me into believing that summer is coming, but then it starts raining and I’m torn out of my summer-like state only to be put in to a mood that has me believing that I am going to sit on the couch wrapped in a blanket and watch series all day or read the A Song of Ice and Fire series, drink coffee and just enjoy life with no makeup on and wearing my most worn-out clothes, because I have no intentions of going out when it’s raining. What’s the point? So as I’m reading or watching something it suddenly stops raining and out comes the sun again. This is where I begin to think that I should go for a walk when the sun is out and I finally have the chance, but the problem is that I can never be bothered to change my clothes and do my makeup knowing that it will probably take me 30 minutes before I am done and then it will most likely already be raining again. So I just wish that when it rains it will rain and when the sun is shining it will shine all day. But sadly reality isn’t always as we want it to be and we have to give up our dream of sunshine and accept the fact that rain comes when rain wants to come. So now that we have established the fact that it actually rains quite a lot in Ireland I can now reveal my innermost hate to the one who thought paper bags would be a great idea in Ireland. Who on earth, and I’m going to say that again WHO ON EARTH! came up with that idea? Does that person not know what water does to paper? It annoys me to come home with something new that has already scraped the ground before I even get the chance to get drunk and scrape it on the ground myself. It annoys me that the other day I went to buy a book and all I got was a paper bag and when I asked if they had a plastic bag the woman said no. A paper bag, a book and rain almost scream disaster. Luckily my book got home safely, but I cannot say the same for the paper bag. It ended up in the trash torn apart!
